Project Description

This four-level, 359 space parking garage provides parking density at one of the major portals to the campus. The adjacent 8,300 SF University Police Department and University Information office that is highly visible and accessible to students, faculty and administration.  The building provides a  vastly expanded facility to serve as the central nerve station of the University, with administrative office space and emergency functions, including 911 emergency dispatch and continuous monitoring of the security, communications and intrusion alarm systems.  It also serves as the Emergency Operations Center and includes temporary holding cells.

Otto, together with the architect, presented to the campus design and construction costs that were $1.5 million under budget. With these savings, CSU Chico was able to add additional scope and facility enhancements. The building achieved LEED Gold certification and sustainable features implemented into the design and construction include 10 electric vehicle charging stations, high efficiency lighting, rooftop solar panels, recycled and regional construction materials, low-emitting VOC paints and coatings, and storm water treatment using a bio-filtration system.
